SIGH. Peyton Manning was my fantasy quarterback, dammit. Apparently, it is just going to be that kind of season. This is potentially going to be worse than the season where I had Rex Grossman at the helm and would sometimes make negative points in QB. Yes, I dropped him. But now I’m stuck with Sam [...]

Spoke Too Soon

Marmol came back yesterday. Fortunately, we had a sizable enough lead against the Phillies that we could survive our own closer. But then Sean Marshall came along today and blew a perfectly good start by Garza. So there goes that one. Apparently, Marmol isn’t the only one out to get this team. As usual, others [...]

Confession: Poetry
July 16th, 2011 · No Comments
I have a confession to make: I hate poetry. Especially haiku. I just felt the need to limit myself to 17 syllables when discussing Marmol because I was SO mad, I couldn’t afford to waste any more energy on him. Seriously, I went to bed early last night because I had exhausted myself being ticked [...]

Travelog: Chicago, June 2011

I finally had some time off this past week, so you know what that means: CHICAGO! Yes, we already covered that ground earlier this year . . . but that was during hockey season. Now it’s time for some BASEBALL! We were only in the Midwest for a slightly extended holiday (Kamehameha Day) weekend, which [...]

The Blackhawks lost Game 7 in OT, despite Corey Crawford’s heroics (his name was trending WORLDWIDE on Twitter) and Jonathan Toews’ awesome shorthanded goal in Period 3. Today’s Cubs game was postponed on behalf of rain that had not even fallen yet. I should have stayed in bed.

Rest in Peace, Ron Santo (1940-2010)
December 4th, 2010 · 3 Comments
Chicago Cubs on-field and broadcast booth legend Ron Santo died Thursday night from complications related to bladder cancer. He was 70 years old. Ernie Banks is often the one referred to as “Mr. Cub,” but every fan knows that the ultimate Cub was and will always be #10, Ron Santo. Even though the Reds offered [...]

This is gonna be so awesome. I borrowed these images from the NU Facebook page. Check it out: I love, love, love Wrigley Field. Love Wildcat football. Wish I could go! =) The game (University of Illinois Illini vs. Northwestern Wildcats) is this coming Saturday, Nov. 20, at 2:30 p.m. CST. It’s on ESPNU, which [...]

BOO Cubs
October 19th, 2010 · 2 Comments
I got up this morning to news that the Cubs were going to extend Quade (that’s pronounced KWAH-dee, non-fans; it’s not like Quaid) as manager for two years. Seriously? Lou leaves, and we’re not even going to check out other prospects for management? We couldn’t even put on a show and wait to talk to Girardi? [...]
