Rahm for Mayor?

January 5th, 2010 · No Comments

Sally Quinn at the Washington Post says a little bird told her that White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel sees his current role as an “18-month job” and that he may be interested in replacing Richard J. Daley as mayor of Chicago.

This could quite possibly be the BEST NEWS EVER. As we all know, local politics is local politics, and it pretty much sucks no matter who’s in charge. So my perspective has always been that the person who gets the mic should at least be entertaining, without being embarrassing. [No comment on how local (Honolulu) leadership is handling that one.] Mayor Daley? Funny. But can you imagine Rahm Emanuel? Have you seen Second City’s “Barack Stars”?!

The downside to Mayor Rahm, of course, would be that you’d probably have to be at press conferences if you wanted to hear his voice at all, unless the FCC were to drop all blocks on four-letter descriptives. But even bleep-laden sound bites on WGN would be great. Heck, even the trademark I’ll-totally-kick-your-ass glare, sans sound, would be pretty darned good.

NOTE: Please don’t spam my comment box with crap about how I don’t live in Chicago, so it’s not my concern. In case you haven’t noticed, that never stops me. Obviously, I don’t really care.

Photo not by me . . . I just found it somewhere and thought it was funny.
